Chapters 7 to 38 roughly pages cover English cooking, with recipes for soups, gravies, fish, meat principally veal, beef, mutton and lamb, and porkpoultry, game, preserves, vegetables, pastries, puddings, sweets, jams, pickles, and savouries. The Lamy family has been working in the vineyards around Saint Aubin since c. Brown Bread Ice Cream c. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography describes it as "the earliest manual of household management with any pretensions to completeness, it called forth many imitations". After a long debate they burnt it to preserve the poet's reputation, and those of his lovers.
Well known for her economically responsible ideas, Rundell was admired throughout the classes, although she often referred to her work as necessary for the "'modern' middleclass housewife".
